“Fire is a natural part of our environment. As we choose to live in areas where wildfires occur, we must adapt the way we design, build and live in these areas so that communities are resilient to inevitable wildfires. The more actions a community takes, the more fire-adapted it may become.”

Emerald Earth is dedicated to preserving the health and vitality of the land. Current residents recognize that we occupy the traditional lands of the Tabuteh Pomo People. As the present stewards of this land we are realigning with the ancient practice of planned and prescribed burns to prevent catastrophic wild fires. We will be conducting our first burn with the help of TREX (Prescribed Burn Traing) and the PBA (Prescribed Burn Association)sometime in March. There will be two work parties prior to the burn that will prepare the land which includes but is not limited to limbing fire ladders, clearing and consolidating slash, clearing fire breaks. If you would like more information please shoot us an email at community@emeraldearth.org. Currently we are sourcing our volunteers for the work parties from our local community but are happy to share information. Look out for future instagram videos documenting the process.
